Note: This is Nainika's second poem on her blog. Interestingly, she made this song by singing it and building it up....it was lovely to see her work on her poem bit by bit. She of course, typed it herself so the spellings are how she phonetically visualises them. Do hope you will enjoy reading it and encourage her with your kind words like always!! - Lakshmi Kaul (Nainika's Proud Mum)

Nainika's Best Wish Star

A Star from Ninks

One day Dad had a big day in office. Three years worth of hard work on his project was going to see the light of the day.
It was a Saturday and dad had to go to work in the evening for the night. Dad came over to see Nainika , just to say hello.

When dad told Nainika about the ‘important’ work he has to do in office tonight. Nainika immediately set off to her book rack. She diligently looked through her books.
She found a yellow Star sticker. Got it and pasted it on dada’s chest, saying, Dad – ‘All the best’. Dad was so overwhelmed. He held Nainika in his arms and gave her a 100 kissies.

When dad reached office, everyone noticed dad proudly wearing the star from his daughtie. So everyone was like, that is your magic charm tonight Vin. Surely the deployment would be a success.

It is 7:00 am in the morning, and indeed what a successful night . Perfect deployment and all checkpoints passed successfully.

I owe this to you my little princess, for making my day successful. Wish you a lifetime of blessings, love and success.

Vin

Dear Nainika, your first...

Your first word was Dadda!

Your first smile: You were a very serious little bably girl. We were worried at one point that you did not smile and then your Bulbul masi paid us a visit when you were about 4 months old. In her arms you smiled for the first time. We lived in Nottingham at that time.

Your first tooth came close to midnight in India (New Delhi). I squealed with joy and woke everyone up. We all saw your tiny little tooth.

To be continued.....

Naine-tara and the Big Big Competition in Kingdom of Kids

Once upon a time there was a beautiful place far far away called the Kingdom of Kids. The King and Queen of the Kingdom of Kids – Nanu-aara and Nani-aara – decided to have a competition for all the kids. The competition would test the talents of the kids for – Art and Craft, Reading and Writing, Games and Sports, Singing and Dancing, Fashion and Style, and finally a Big Big Secret Competition. The winner of this whole competition would be crowned the Princess of the Kingdom of Kids. Every child in the Kingdom of Kids started preparing to participate in this BIG Competition.
In the land of London-aara, which was a city very close to the Kingdom of Kids, there lived a cute and adorable little girl called Naine-tara. She was brilliant in her studies and a strong sports person. She was always helping everyone and loved to party. She was a very talented girl and liked singing and dancing too. She loved her books and wrote a diary too. When she heard of this Big Competition in the Kingdom of Kids, she decided to participate in it so that she would be crowned the Princess of the Kingdom of Kids.
Naine-tara was a very smart girl. She knew that this was an important and Big competition and she would have to prepare well for it. So she decided to train and prepare herself for this competition.
Naine-tara went to her mommy and daddy to take their guidance for planning her training process for this competition. Her mommy and daddy decided to send her to some of the greatest teachers in the world to prepare for this Big competition.
Naine-tara first went to prepare for the Art and Craft competition. For this she was sent to her teachers Bulu Massi and Arnab Mausu. While Bulu Massi taught her drawing and painting, Arnab Mausu gave her good training for crafts. They told her everything about colours, designs and creativity. Naine-tara like a nice student learnt it all and became a good creative person – all set for the Big competition.
Next, Naine-tara went to prepare for the Reading and Writing competition. For this Naine-tara was sent to her teacher Neha Massi. With lots of interesting stories and books, Neha Massi taught her everything about books and literature. Neha Massi also taught Naine-tara how to write, helped her with spellings and improved her poetry and creative writing. Naine-tara like a nice student learnt it all and became a good literary person – all set for the Big competition.
After this, Naine-tara went to prepare for the Games and Sports competition. For this Naine-tara went to her teachers Vimal Chachu and Archana Chachi. While Vimal Chachu trained her well for all sports and running, Archana Chachi helped her enhance her skills for different games. Naine-tara like a nice student learnt it all and became a good sports person – all set for the Big competition.
Now the next big learning tasks were the preparation for the Singing and Dancing competition and the Fashion and Style competition. For this Naine-tara went to her teachers Anu Massi and Nikhil Mausu. While Nikhil Mausu taught her all the wonderful songs and trained Naine-tara in singing, Anu Massi taught her the twists and twirls and thumkas for improving her dancing talent. Anu Massi also groomed Naine-tara for fashion and style as she trained her in shopping and styling awesome looks. In addition, Anu Massi gave Naine-tara the secrets of makeup and hair styling too. Naine-tara like a nice student learnt it all and became a fashionable singing and dancing person – all set for the Big competition.
After all the training Naine-tara went back to her mommy and daddy. To increase her strength and courage for the competition, her daddy gave Naine-tara a pink power jacket, and her mommy gave her a special gift – a golden heart that was filled with kindness and passion for life. Now finally, Naine-tara was all set for the BIG Competition.
Naine-tara went to the Kingdom of Kids on the day of the competition.
The competition began with the Creative test. For the first part of the Creative test Naine-tara made a beautiful painting of a holiday by the beach. Her painting was so so so beautiful that Naine-tara got the first prize. For the second part of the creative test, Naine-tara created a special papier-maché bowl and painted it is pink and red, and it was so so so beautiful that Naine-tara got the first prize.
After this there was the Reading and Writing competition. For this competition Naine-tara wrote a beautiful poem about all her amazing friends, which was so so so nice that she won the first prize. Naine-tara was also given a spelling dictation test where she managed to spell all the words she was asked to spell absolutely correctly, and so she again won the first prize.
After this Naine-tara went on to participate in the Games and Sports competition and won the race. She also won all the other sports that she participated in and was given the first prize.
After winning so many competitions, Naine-tara went to participate in the singing and dancing competition. For this she sang a beautiful song and also danced to with the coolest twists and twirls, just like a superstar. Everyone in the Kingdom of Kids loved Naine-tara’s performance and enjoyed copying her dance moves and thrilling song. Naine-tara was given the first prize for her amazing performance in the Music and Dance competition.
The last set of competitions was the Fashion and Style competition. With her special skills Naine-tara designed a beautiful dress and styled it with the most amazing shoes, bags, necklace, earrings, tiara and a very special hair-style and amazing makeup that made an amazing fashion statement. Her look was so so so beautiful and stunning that everyone in the Kingdom of Kids wanted to copy her style. Naine-tara was given the first prize again for her amazing sense of style and fashion.
Since Naine-tara had won all the competitions, she went in for the final Big Big Secret Competition to the palace of the King and Queen of Kingdom of Kids – Nanu-aara and Nani-aara. They told Naine-aara about the Big Big secret test which was to change wicked witch Anu-aara into a nice person. This was a very difficult test because wicked witch Anu-aara was a very naughty girl. Naine-aara made a plan and decided to meet Anu-aara to change her into a nice person. When they met, wicked witch Anu-aara started fighting with Naine-aara. Since Naine-aara was wearing the pink power jacket that her daddy gave her, Naine-aara managed to beat Anu-aara in the fight. After this, Naine-aara brought out the golden heart that her mommy gave her and exchanged Anu-aara’s black wicked witch heart with the golden heart. There was a sudden change in Anu-aara who now was a kind and passionate person.
King Nanu-aara and Queen Nani-aara were very very happy to see the change in Anu-aara and thanked Naine-aara. They announced Naine-aara as the clear winner for the Big Big Competition. Naine-aara was also crowned as the Princess of the Kingdom of Kids, and King Nanu-aara announced a big party where everyone sang and danced and ate a lot of yummy vegetables and cake with Princess Naine-aara.

Helping Hand

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Nainika. She loved stories. Even more than stories, she loved princesses - in fact, she wanted to be a real princess.
Nainika lived with her mummy in a cosy little house made with love. Both of them worked very hard and had a lot of fun together. They went out on long walks, fed the ducks, chased butterflies and told each other stories of adventures.

One day, Nainika finished her homework a bit early so decided to see if she could help mummy. She went upto her mummy and said, "I am finished doing my homework, can I  help you now?"

Mummy smiled and said, "You already help me a lot Nainika. Why don't you play for a little while?"

Hearing this, Nainika went upto her mummy and gave her a tight hug and said, "you are always working. So you take some rest and I will do the dishes today."

Hearing this, Nainika's mummy gave her a big hug and a kiss. Mummy was very proud of her very sensible daughter - she let her do the small dishes.

As a special treat, both Mummy and Nainika baked a scrumptious chocolate cake. What a perfect ending to a hard working day!

Kingdom Of Kids and Naine-tara

Once upon a time there was a beautiful place called Kingdom Of Kids. It was loved by all kids. It was the best place to play. It had lots of swings. Kingdom of Kids also had a little beach and a swimming pool too. It was always sunny and nice in Kingdom of Kids. Children loved living in Kingdom Of Kids. All the children in Kingdom of Kids were beautiful. They wore pretty dresses. They had rosy cheeks. They had red lips and bright white teeth that shone bright when they smiled. And they all looked lovely. Kingdom of Kids was the best place in the whole wide world.
But one day the wicked witch ‘ANUAARAcame to the Kingdome Of Kids. She had an evil plan. She wanted to take over Kingdome Of Kids and make all the children her slave. She slowly started playing with the kids. The innocent children who did not know her wicked plan started following her. She started feeding the kids chocolates, cookies, coke and chips all the time. She made them watch TV all the time. The innocent children did not understand her tricks and thought that she was their best friend who let them watch TV all the time and gave them yummy cookies, coke, chips and chocolates.
After a few years the children of Kingdome of Kids were not so happy anymore. They were all unhealthy. They could not run around and play. They could not see the sun anymore and did not play outdoors. They had stopped going to the beach and the swimming pool. They could not fit into their pretty dresses because they were all so fat. Their teeth were spoilt and had turned black. Their cheeks were not rosy anymore, they were dull and dry. Kingdome of Kids was not a happy place anymore.
Then one day cute little princess Naine-tara who now lived in London-aara came to the Kingdome Of Kids which she had visited when she was a little girl. Naine-tara was shocked to see the children of Kingdom of Kids. She felt sad to see all of them so very unhealthy and lazy and worn out. After seeing all this, Naine-tara decided to find out what had gone wrong with all these kids. She secretly started observing the children in Kingdome of Kids. Within a few days she understood the reason for their ill health. It was all the coke, chips, cookies and chocolates they were eating all the time, and the TV they were watching all day. They were not eating any vegetables, cereal, soups, rotis, chicken, rice, fish and fruits. Their diet was very very unhealthy which was making the children ill. Also they were not playing in the garden, not going to the beach or swimming in the pool. They were not doing yoga or any other exercise also. Sitting in their room watching TV all day was making the kids unhealthy.
Naine-tara decided to correct all this. She went and fought the evil ANUAARA. Naine-tara took out her magic wand and made ANUAARA into a pumpkin. Then she donated all the extra chocolates, cookies, coke and chips to the needy kids of poor land. Naine-tara kept some cookies, chocolates, coke and chips for the children of Kingdome Of Kids also. But she changed their diet plan and play schedule.
Naine-tara made sure that all the children of Kingdome of Kids ate their vegetables, cereal, soups, rotis, chicken, rice, fish and fruits. She made sure that they brushed their teeth twice a day. Naine-tara also made sure that after studying at the school she took all the children to play in the garden. She also took them to the beach and the swimming pool.
With the regular good diet of vegetables, cereal, soups, rotis, chicken, rice, fish and fruits and playing in the sun, swimming in the pool and playing on the beach, all the children of Kingdom Of Kids became healthy again. Naine-tara became happy and organized a big party with lots of music and masti… and they lived happily ever after.

The day you were born!

Dearest Nainika,

The day you were born was 18th February and the year was 2008. That year it was very very cold and summer decided to hide. I still remember how you were born.

You were tiny and beautiful. You came into my arms and made me the happiest person in the world. My first words: "Nainika's here! Nainika's here!" Your daddy cleaned you, put your first set of clothes on you and when I came back from the operation theatre, you just slept peacefully.

There were two other little babies in the ward where we stayed at the hospital - both would cry a lot. You, Nainika did not cry. All you did was a little lullaby: a-he he a-he-he!

You made me a Mom and that's why you are so very special!!

Love you a lot my sweet princess..

Mum

WELCOME TO NAINIKA READS!

Dearest Nainika,

Here is a special gift to you from your Mummy and Daddy. It is really thanks to your uncle Robinson who with this fantastic story got us to think of writing a lovely story to you through your growing up years.

Here is what Robinson uncle wrote for you.

Nainika Food Story (NFS)

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl named Nainika...some friends called her nae..nene. nae  nae. She loved playing, travelling and cooking too...recently she had gone to India and met a lot of  new people...family and friends who loved her for who she was. She also got to eat a lot of  new things along with C and C (coke and chips) and was keeping healthy. She also learnt to make stories and to tell them too...One day she was feeling very tired and wanted to sleep and sleep...In her sleep came a fairy...who told her...smiling girl...why are you not playing? Nainika replied...I am tired and not in a mood. The fairy waved her magic wand and there appeared nutritious food.. Soups, Bread, Muffins and fresh fruits and Vegetables...and the fairy said.. Look girl ..you want to be smart and beautiful then you have to eat well so that you get energy and the fairy started making a nice salad and soup and as soon as Nainika had it ..she felt strong and wanted to play and go to the garden and roll downhill.. with that she suddenly woke up and felt very hungry and there was Mommy with Salad and Soup and Nainika smiled and gobbled it all up...so that is the Nainika food story.. now sit back and eat well.
